Bills I like:
HF 0020 (Winkler, DFL 44B) would create a website providing info on state spending. I’m all for easier access to government spending records.
HF 0057 (Emmer, R 19B) is a real live, voter ID requirement. Anything to fight voter fraud.
HF 0311 (Peppin, 32A) would repeal ethanol subsidies and fuel requirements.
HF 0363 (Zellers, R 32B) Calls for a gradual phase out of the state’s corporate income tax. We needed a bill like this six years ago, during the republican majority in the House.
HF 0445 (Zellers) A tax holiday for new/expanding business. Not as far reaching as 363, but a good job-creating idea.
Bills I don’t like:
HF 0135 (Bly, DFL 25B) is a huge health care guarantee. I imagine it would cost a fortune. Also, rather than health and lifestyle choices, an individual’s premiums would be based on ”ability to pay and other revenue sources.”
HF 0259 (Lillie, DFL 55B) If there is ever a time when funding a passenger train line to Chicago is a good idea, it is not when we are cutting other programs to make ends meet. And, don’t we have an Amtrack station?
HF 0520 (Olin, DFL 01A) This bacon-smelling project sends state cash to the “Minnesota Turf Seed Council.”
